This week's episode in my Doodle Gem Series is Hematite. A wonderful shiny almost metallic grey stone that is usually around 60% iron. I used a limited pallet and even figured out what colors you would use if you were using Crayola too.
Materials:
Cardstock Neenah, Solar White 110 lb
Pigma Micron Black ink 02
Signo Uniball UM-153 White Ink
Colored Pencils-
I Used: Prismacolor, Black, 50% Grey, White, Indigo, and Colorless Blender.
If you only have Crayola: Black, Slate Grey, White and Navy.
The most important things you need to be successful with any of my doodle gems projects are the willingness to learn and to be easy on yourself as you are learning. We tend to be our worst critics and we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.
I love the community that we are building here. We are caring and supportive of all levels of crafters, makers and Artists.

Doodle Gems How to Draw Sapphire ep 18
This Doodle gem was a request from a couple folks and was on my list to get done in the next few weeks. I had a very specific request for a Sapphire that I had to fulfil immediately! One of our community members lost her grandson and his birthstone was Sapphire. Many hugs and peace to her family.
So here it is. A very easy sapphire with some simple indications of faceting. This is a much more impressionistic NOT hyper realistic version.
The most important things you need to be successful with any of my doodle gems projects are the willingness to learn and to be easy on yourself as you are learning. We tend to be our worst critics and we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.
