Summer Wildflower Meadow Big Cloudy Cells Sky Fluid Acrylic Pour Techniq...

Summer time is coming and soon the Wildflower Meadows will be covered with amazing blooms! I'm looking forward to many camping trips to the National forests in my little teardrop trailer! I may just have to figure out how to do some acrylic poured paintings while on the go. Anyone interested in seeing me do some painting videos out in the 'wild'?

This painting was so much fun. The clouds were such an surprise too! I love how the white interacted with the blues to to create such cloud like cells. I think that part of this was do to all the tipping of the canvas that gave the clouds their slanted angle and energy. This video is almost an hour long and has a quite a few steps but NONE of the steps are hard to do. Just doing the steps I show gives you a better chance to get similar effects. :)

This fun beginner acrylic painting doesn't use any brushes! I'm pouring paint from cups. Drawing through the paint with wood sticks and plastic paint droppers! Use what you have! I even used my fingers to move the paint around.

This is your time to be creative--never let the lack of a tool keep you from making art!

For this painting I used 2 "Dirty" (several colors in one cup) Cups one set up with the Blues and White, and one cup set up with the Greens and Yellows you will get the Sky and the meadow! Then there are some clean colors for the wild flowers using some large 5 ml pipettes.
This painting is done on a 12x24 inch canvas--the biggest I think I can do under my camera with the current set up.

You can do this on any size canvas or surface. If you use a different size you will need to adjust the amount of paint and pouring medium you mix up. Play and experiment with how much you will need. Just mix up more if you are working bigger or less if you are working smaller.

All of the colors are mixed with Liquitex Pouring Medium!

High Flow and Fluid paints were mixed 10 drops of paint to 1 ounce of Pouring Medium.

Color shift paint was mixed 2:1-- 2 parts Pouring Medium to 1 part Color Shift paint

Behr Premium Plus Ultra is mixed 1:1 -- 1 part Pouring Medium to 1 part Paint.

Golden Fluid Acrylic: Primary Magenta, Primary Yellow, Carbon Black, Cobalt Turquoise.
Golden High Flow: Phthalo Blue, Ultra Marine Blue, Dioxazine Purple
Behr Premium Plus Ultra 100% Acrylic Paint: Nano White
Plaid Color Shift: Black Flash

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of burning the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from.

We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful but there can be consequences we don't know about yet. As with any thing in life be informed by reputable sources and your own common sense. :)
