Fluid Acrylic Direct Pour Abstract Painting Experiment Artist Loft Paint...

It is fun to just pour paint just to see what happens!

This experiment is with Artist Loft acrylic paint and Liquitex Pouring Medium. Red, White and Blue for the Summer Independence Day Celebrations in the USA.

You can do this with any color combinations that make you happy! Just remember that colors that are opposite on the color wheel like Orange and Blue, Green and Red and Purple and Yellow will all go murky or grey when they are mixed too much with each other. They are complimentary colors that make each one look amazing side by side but will mute each other if mixed together.

Part of playing with colors is learning what mixes well and how far you can push the colors before they walk over the wall to the land of mud!

This painting was done on a 5"x 7" canvas panel. I like to experiment on smaller panels so I don't have to mix up too much paint. :) It is more economical for supplies and for storage space. :)

The Paints:
Artist Loft Acrylic Paint Phthalo Blue, Brilliant Magenta, White. All were mixed with Liquitex Pouring Medium in a ratio of 2 parts pouring medium to 1 part paint. Each color in their own little cup.

I pour layered puddles directly on the panel and right before I tip the canvas I drag my finger through the paint to see what happens! That's a trick I picked up from MelyD.Artist another fluid acrylic Artist on YouTube.

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of heating the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from. I'm also concerned with the possible issues down the line with the paint not forming a good bond with the surface because of the oils preventing proper adhesion.

We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful, but there can be consequences we don't know about yet. As with any thing in life be informed by reputable sources and your own common sense. :)

The most important things you need to be successful with any of my creative projects are the willingness to learn and to be easy on yourself as you are learning. We tend to be our worst critics and we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.

What Could Go Wrong? Spinning Dirty Pour Acrylic Fluid Painting Techniqu...

It's time for another Spin Around the Block! Well actually I'm spinning a wooden frame on top of a canvas! Really...what could go wrong?

When I did my previous Spinner Art on the Lazy Susan a viewer suggested I put my main piece on top of a bigger canvas to catch the over spin paint. So that is what I did! and it was all going well as expected until I spun it a little bit too hard.

This video has my results of the experiment and is making me want to try more. Remember that no matter how it turns out we can learn something that will make our next pours even better!
Stick around and see how it all ends up!

The magic dirty cup of leftovers from my husband were prepared with Golden Polymer Medium Gloss and Golden Fluid Acrylic Paints. Since they were leftovers I don't have the recipe for those.--Sorry!
Golden Fluid Acrylic paint colors: Primary Cyan, Primary Magenta, Primary Yellow.
Pebeo Studio Acrylic Iridescent paints- Violet Blue and Green Blue 1 Part Paint to 2 Parts Golden Polymer Medium
Apple Barrel: Pumpkin Orange: 1 Part Paint 2 parts Liquitex Pouring Medium
Deco Art Titanium White and Leaf Green both are 4 Parts Paint to One Part Liquitex Pouring Medium.

Wood Frame - NO PREP
10 Inch x 10 inch (30cm x 30cm) Stretched Canvas
Old wooden lazy Susan attached to a board for stability.

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of burning the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from.

We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful but there can be consequences we don't know about yet. As with any thing in life be informed by reputable sources and your own common sense. :)

Fluid Acrylic Painting - Old Fashioned Red Geraniums using Balloons Tech...

I love old fashioned flowers! Summery red geraniums are such a trigger for my memories! Make some memories with your family today!

Red Geraniums, Blue Forget Me Not's and white Alyssum are a beautiful combination that just makes me smile! I hope that this project brings you happy memories and helps you create new ones too!

Fluid Acrylic Painting using Balloons is a fun a creative way to do really fast paintings that look AMAZING! Kids love this technique just as much as adults.

This is a #LoveSummerArt2017 video. This is part of the Creative Arts Collaboration Summer Online Art Festival. To find more amazing videos just put #LoveSummerArt2017 into the search bar and you will have so many beautiful summer art videos at your fingertips! More will be added every day between June 14-18, 2017.

This is a project that ANYONE can be successful doing. I hope you will try it out and see how much fun this really is!

I am so delighted by the magic of these paintings. I have several more varieties of flowers already in videos, I hope you check them out. They are linked in the iCard.

I used Solar White 110 lb Neenah Cardstock cut into 5.5"x 8.5" pieces and then folded in half to make a greeting cards.

These make wonderful gifts on their own or in sets of 4 with envelopes. If you purchase Invitation Envelopes they fit perfectly! Imagine a small wedding or shower with hand painted invitations with your own original art!

Materials/Equipment:

Here's all the individual recipes for the colors and brands that I used in this painting.

I Use a scale to measure my paint, water and pouring medium. It is more accurate and consistent to use a scale and way faster!

You do need a cup or container for each color. Little plastic cups are great if you are saving leftover paints. You can use small paper water cups if you are not going to try and save the paint. Paper cups will fall apart more quickly.

You will also need some craft sticks and a pair of gloves to to make it easier to keep your hands clean.

All of the colors have Pouring Medium in them.
I did this painting with the Liquitex Pouring Medium.

You can experiment with any pouring mediums--just do them proportionally small batches until you are confident that your combinations will work.

On to the Recipes!
Put your cup on the scale press the button to set the scale to zero and follow the measurements as you add each item to a cup for each color.

DecoArt Crafter's Acrylic paint:
Grasshopper Green- 20 grams paint, 40 grams Liquitex Pouring Medium

Apple Barrel Paints- each color in its own cup!
20 grams paint, 40 grams Liquitex Pouring Medium
Christmas Green
Yellow
Caterpillar Green
Pumpkin Orange

Artist Loft 20 grams paint, 40 grams Liquitex Pouring Medium
White
Anita's 20 grams paint, 40 grams Liquitex Pouring Medium
True Red

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of heating the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from. Fluid Acrylic Painting with Balloons Technique -Phlox Flower Card Fast a...

Garden Phlox bloom prolifically with huge, 5-6" flower heads for months when little else is blooming

. They are hardy flowers that are fragrant and showy! So pretty with tall stocks of flowers. Now you paint them easily with a few colors and balloons as your brushes!

To make this fun and easy painting I take a couple cheap water balloons filled with air and tie them off. Then press the balloons into puddles of multi colored acrylic paints (that have been mixed individually following the recipes below) that is just pooled onto freezer paper, wax paper or pallet paper.

By just pressing and swishing the colors off of the balloons on to the card stock, I show you how to easily create a beautiful garden of Phlox flowers, so quick and pretty.

I am so delighted by the magic of these paintings. I have several more varieties of flowers already in videos, I hope you check them out. They are linked in the iCard.

Fluid Acrylic Painting with Balloons Technique - Hollyhocks Fast and Easy!

Hollyhocks a wonderful old fashioned country cottage garden flower.

This is one of those flowers that makes me dream of warm summer evenings, and frozen juice on a stick sitting on the steps of a porch, watching the stars start to come out in the sky. The smell of water hitting warm pavement from the sprinklers and tomatoes in the garden ready to be picked.

To make this fun and easy painting I take a couple cheap water balloons filled with air and tie them off.
