How to Draw a Turquoise Doodlegem -- Collaboration with Sweet Willow Des...

I'm delighted to be working with Maria Clark of Sweet Willow Designs to bring you a 2 part collaboration! First, you will get the real time tutorial on how I drew up the design and in Maria's video you will see her take that design and make it into a real 3 dimensional piece of wearable art using polymer clay! Click this link to go to Maria's wonderfully Creative Video! I'm so excited to be part of this project.

I'm doing Turquoise in this video. Yes, I have done a turquoise doodle gem before BUT there are so many different kinds of turquoise I could do 50 different turquoise videos and not repeat any!

For this doodlegem video I use Prismacolor Pencils in these colors:

Light Cerulean, Peacock Blue, Yellow Ochre, Grass Green, Light Umber, White, Indigo, Aquamarine and a colorless Blender

If you want to use Crayola try it with these colors first: Light Blue, Sky Blue, Harvest Gold, Pine Green, Brown White, Navy Blue and Turquoise.

I'm using Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock but you can use any smooth heavy paper or card. Bristol board it a less expensive alternative!

Pigma Micron Black ink Pen

Signo Uniball UM-153 white ink Pen

How to Draw Doodle Gems Tutorial: Larimar ep 27

This is a lovely blue stone with a soft translucence and a random looking pattern of lighter colored intersecting lines.

It is a great doodle gem if you only have a few colored pencils! The example in the video was done with Prismacolor but I have figured out what colors you would want to try if you only have Crayola. I love how with simple materials we can have a whole collection of stones from around the world!

Please check out the video, try out the stone and the doodle then let me know what you thought of the lesson. I'd love to hear what you think would make my videos better. :)

Materials:

White smooth cardstock:

I'm using Neenah Solar White 110 LB Cardstock, but, any smooth white (NOT GLOSSY) card or paper will do. The heavier the paper the more abuse it can take. :)

Pens:

Black non smudging ink pen. I'm using Sakura Pigma Micron 05 Black ink

White Gel roller pen. I"m Using my favorite: Uniball Signo White UM-153

Colored Pencils:

I'm using Prismacolor: Indigo, Aquamarine, True Blue, Light Cerulean Blue, White and a Colorless Blender.

If you only have Crayola try these colors: Navy, Turquoise, Sky Blue, Light Blue and White

The most important things you need to be successful with any of my doodle gems projects are the willingness to learn and to be easy on yourself as you are learning. We tend to be our worst critics and we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.

Doodle Gems How to Draw Sapphire ep 18

This Doodle gem was a request from a couple folks and was on my list to get done in the next few weeks. I had a very specific request for a Sapphire that I had to fulfil immediately! One of our community members lost her grandson and his birthstone was Sapphire. Many hugs and peace to her family.

So here it is. A very easy sapphire with some simple indications of  faceting. This is a much more impressionistic NOT  hyper realistic version.

The most important things you need to be successful with any of my doodle gems projects are the willingness to learn and to be easy on yourself as you are learning. We tend to be our worst critics and we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.

I love the community that we are building here. We are caring and supportive of all levels of crafters, makers and Artists.
