Abstract Lilac Flowers Easy Poured Fluid Acrylic Painting Step by Step T...

Memories are made of moments filled with emotion. My memories of lilacs are filled with my siblings, our friends, the stories and adventures we would create for ourselves playing in the backyard under the branches of our old overgrown lilac bush.

Lilacs are an old fashioned flower that never really has gone out of fashion as far as I'm concerned! I love the soft scent of lilacs in the spring after it has rained and the sun is softly warming the air.

This painting has a dirty flip cup acrylic poured background and then the tree trunk and branches are put on using a pipette. The lovely purple flowers are made by layering drops of dark purple, light purple and white paint and dragging a ball end stylus through to make the flower petals.

The All of the paints were prepared with Golden Fluid acrylic paints Golden Polymer Medium Gloss.
Paints:
Golden Fluid Acrylic paint colors: Primary Cyan, Primary Magenta, Primary Yellow and Iridescent Gold Deep Fine.
Plaid Color Shift in Black Flash.
Behr Premium Plus Ultra - Nano White

8x10 inch Yes! Canvas Panel 20cm x 25cm
5 ml Pipettes (big droppers) (I found them on Amazon)
Ball end Stylus Nail Tool

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of burning the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from.

We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful but there can be consequences we don't know about yet. As with any thing in life be informed by reputable sources and your own common sense. :)

Fluid Acrylic Poured Painting Behr Interior House Paint Alternative Pour...

This experiment takes us back to outer space using negative space!

I painted the MDF 12x12 board with a flat black paint and sprinkled stars.
Then using a salad plate I cut a circle mask in a piece of Contact sticky backed film and put it on the front of the board AFTER THE BACKGROUND PAINT WAS DRY.

Then pouring in stripes with the 1 cup Dirty Pour of  Behr paint and Golden Polymer medium in a 1:1 ratio the planet was put in and left to dry for a while (I used a blow dryer from a high up angle so I didn't disturb the paint but I did get it to set up a bit.

Then I Pulled off the Mask to reveal the planet!

Next using plain Golden Polymer Medium I back filled the negative space on the board around the planet.

Finally using Micro Pearl Pearl Ex mixed into Golden Polymer Medium I created the Comet!

The Behr Colors I used were: Raven Raisin, Cherry Red, Majestic Blue, Luscious Lemon and Nano White.

As an alternative to Liquitex Pouring Medium this time I used Golden Polymer Medium Gloss.- it is about the same price as the Liquitex BUT the Golden Polymer Medium is IN Stock!
Jaquard Pearl Ex Powder- Micro Pearl

This worked out really well! I has to wait for the painting to be completely dried so I could finish the video with it. But Oh My goodness it was worth the wait!

Fluid Acrylic Poured Painting - Abstract Fantasy Planet - Using a Mask E...

Masking and pouring paint works!! I'm so excited by the possibilities this opens up.

Being able to put a targeted pour in a specific spot on a painting just by masking with contact paper (sticky backed plastic used Usually as a re-positional shelf liner-It has just enough tack to stay put and keep a clean seal but it is easy to release from the painting surface. Contact is the brand I used that is available in the United states)

This painting looks like a fantasy planet in a star filled sky. I painted the background in with Liquitex Heavy Body: Mars Black, Phthalo Blue and Dioxazine Purple and dried it over night. Then I used a toothbrush to spatter thinned down Liquitex Titanium White for the star filled sky. After that was dry I applied the precut mask of Contact sticky backed plastic as the mask and did the pour!

All of the paints were all watered down to a smooth fluid - like thin cream and then mixed with Golden Polymer Medium Gloss, the Golden GAC-800.

This time we are using a 12 inch x 12 inch Cradled Wood Panel.  I'm  using several different paints to pour with: Decoart Crafter's acrylics:  Buttercream,  Liquitex Titanium White, Matisse: Southern Ocean Blue, Pebeo Studio Acrylics: Red/Blue, Golden Polymer Medium Gloss, Golden GAC-800 and water.

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of burning the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from.
