Red Rose Fluid Acrylic Painting Techniques Paint - using Balloons?

Here is a new way to make a beautiful rose.

I have seen some folks painting abstract flowers with balloons but I haven't ever seen anyone do anything like this!

I challenged myself to figure out how to make a beautiful rose with only balloons, not a brush in sight!

I take a couple cheap water balloons that I filled with air and tied off. Then press the balloons into puddles of multi colored acrylic paints mixed with Liquitex pouring medium.

By just pressing and swishing the colors off of the balloons on to the card stock, I show you how to easily create a beautiful red cabbage style rose and bud in a lovely rose bush! So quick and easy. I am so delighted by the magic of these paintings. I have several more varieties of flowers coming in videos soon! Make sure you are subscribed and have clicked the bell to be notified when the new videos go up.

I used Solar White 110 lb Neenah Cardstock cut into 5.5"x 8.5" pieces and then folded in half to make a greeting card. These make wonderful gifts on their own or in sets of 4 with envelopes. If you purchase Invitation Envelopes they fit perfectly! Imagine a small wedding or shower with hand painted invitations with your own original art!
The Paints!

Here's all the individual recipes for the colors and brands that I used in this painting.

I Use a scale to measure my paint, water and pouring medium. It is more accurate and consistent to use a scale and way faster!

You do need a cup or container for each color. Little plastic cups are great if you are saving leftover paints. You can use small paper water cups if you are not going to try and save the paint. Paper cups will fall apart more quickly.

You will also need some craft sticks and a pair of gloves to to make it easier to keep your hands clean.

All of the colors have Pouring Medium in them. I did this painting with the Liquitex Pouring Medium.

You can experiment with any pouring mediums--just do them proportionally small batches until you are confident that your combinations will work.

On to the PAINT MIXING Recipes!
Put your cup on the scale press the button to set the scale to zero and follow the measurements as you add each item to a cup for each color.

DecoArt Americana paints: Titanium White - 1 oz paint, 1/4 oz Pouring Medium, 1/4 oz water

Apple Barrel Paints- each color in its own cup!
Leaf Green 2 oz paint, 1/2 oz pouring medium, 1/4 oz water
Yellow 1 oz paint, 1/4 oz pouring medium, NO water
Mountain Blue 1 oz paint, 1/4 oz pouring medium, NO water.

DecoArt Crafters Acrylic -
Tutti Fruiti : 1 oz Paint, 1/4 oz Pouring Medium

Folk Art- Color Shift Blue Flash 1oz Paint, 1/4 oz of Liquitex Pouring Medium NO water.

There's no silicon oil or torching in my projects as I really worry about the possible side effects of heating the acrylic paints and the materials they are made from. I'm also concerned with the possible issues down the line with the paint not forming a good bond with the surface because of the oils preventing proper adhesion.

We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful, but there can be consequences we don't know about yet. As with any thing in life be informed by reputable sources and your own common sense. :)
