I have 16 pages in the new watercolor journal and I have finished my first entry in the book! Wahoo!
I took this photo of a bumblebee at the Edgefield McMenimins Just outside of Portland Oregon last summer. I thought it was so cool that I was able to catch the bee sitting still and see the shine on it's wings.
I remember when our son was little he used to pet the furry bumblebees hanging around the lavendar bushes in the front yard. He would always laugh and then run to tell us about the soft bumble bees. :)
Here's to summer memories!
cheers, SB

Very nice work, Stephanie! Don't you find the environment at McMenamin's totally inspiring - so much quirky art. ( live in S. Oregon and there is also a small McM. in the city closest to where I live.)
GOR...geous! This is really wonderful...and your journalling to do with it is such a treasure! What a great way to kick off your new journal!
This is fantastic! I like the looseness of the background played against the detail of the bee. Perfect.
Very inspiring. The detail on the bee is amazing and yes I love those pens too! Aren't they great?
Love the bee. One of my favorites. nice, nice job.

My dog Loves these type of bees. He gives them Nose kisses. It looks like hes sniffing the flowers when he's really playing with the bees.
Great bees on the flower.
What a fat little bee, I love our Portland bees, I always wonder how they manage to fly. I have taken a few photos of bees with so pollen on their legs I thought they were going to fall off the flower. Love the colors
Wonderful fun page! There's a beautiful light in it - and the story of your son with the bumble bee is too cute!
This is excellent! I just love your style!
Beautiful. You made a great bumblebee and picture. Did your son ever get stung?
This is wonderful! An excellent first page of your journal. The first page is always the hardest for me.
Edgefield is a nice place to wander. The gardens there are very nice. I attended my husband's family reunion hosted there last year.
Beautifully done, Stephanie. I took a closer look and the detail you've achieved is amazing. A hard subject too!
Oh you are sooooo good! What a wonderful story and illustration.
