Then I came home and deciced that I HAD to make some art. I pulled out a photo I took of my dog Winston last summer on a really hot day. He so didn't want to move. I figured that it was a perfect time to get a photo. :)

I sketched first with pencil, then with the ink and finally with some Albrecht Durer Watercolor pencils. This was such an odd angle that it was a challenge to get Winston to "look right" I also decided not to draw the grain in on the wood of the bench, I figured it would make the painting look too busy. what do you think??

I hope you are having a great weekend!
cheers, SB

How neat! I love your tulip also. I will have to drag out my colored pencils, you have inspired me. Keep drawing....sounds like you are having a great weekend with your grandparents, etc.

I think you made a good choice less is more - and the bench does not compete for attention but then again a bench would have a hard time upstaging Winston

I know that look of a dog (I'm not ready to come in yet leave me alone).
Very good at capturing that look in a Westie. I enjoy your Drawings very much.

Great (and fun) piece. You were right - ignore the grain of the wood and focus on the hair of the dog!

good choice as the bench doesn't need as much attantion:)

I agree. The woodgrain is definitely not needed. You did a great job on Winston, especially his nose. It looks soft and damp just like a dog's nose should look ( I have trouble with their noses so I paid attention to it).

Love it, the wood looks woody without grain.
