I got several uninterrupted hours and was able to get this drawing finished that I satrted lat night.
I really like how is feels substantial and very stone like. Though I am thinking of maybe do a bit of a color was on it, I haven't decided yet so here it is: A Border Abby Scotland, I can't rememer which one since we saw several abbys in just a few days and it was 10 years ago.
It was drawn almost completely by stippling with an XS Pitt pen on 140 # watercolor paper. It's not very big only 4.25 x 5.5 inches so even though it looks really involved it is small. :)
I'm thinking of doing a bit of a series based on doors and windows. I love the idea of entrances, exits and ways to seen into or out of a place.
Cheers to you all!

Love the view through to the tree! :) Nice work! :)
This is going to be be a great serie! Love the contrast between the stones and the tree here!
Wow....what detail! Very unique. You must have the patience of Job.
This is just great. I love it as it is and a series will be very interesting indeed. I love old doors also and have taken quite a few pictures in my travels of them with hopes of painting or drawing them too. I will check back to see how your series is progressing.
I love this. It reminds me of our last visit to historic St Augustine, FL. I took so many photos of churches, doorways, and cemetery statuary with the intention to paint one day. Your drawing was my reminder to get those pictures out!
I also enjoyed seeing your use of stippling with pen. I'm new to drawing with a pen and haven't quite gotten up the nerve to try much shading, etc.
I also have a series of photographs of great doors. I think they are so full of stories and possibilities. As to the color wash, I think it might look nice, but I would scan the original and print out one to try so you don't lose the original
Very nice. Yes, windows and doors just speak to people. A series would be very nice.
I fell in love with old doors when I was in Switzerland. I didn't photograph them and I am still regretting it. I think door make a fabulous theme. There used to be a wonderful poster of door in dublin. This one is fantastic.
